Ministry of Energy initiates oil exploration project in Al-Jafr area

AMMAN — Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has announced plans to drill two wells for oil exploration in the Al-Jafr area in 2023, according to Jo24. According to the Division of Petroleum Projects head at the ministry, Bahjat Aladwan, drilling of the first well, named Jafr 3, began three weeks ago in cooperation with the National Petroleum Company. Tender issued for second wellAladwan also revealed that the ministry has issued a tender to rent a drilling rig from local companies to drill a second well in the eastern Jafr area, at a depth of 1,500m. The ministry is currently awaiting technical bids from companies to proceed with the drilling. According to the Division of Petroleum Projects head at the ministry, Bahjat Aladwan, drilling of the first well, named Jafr 3, began three weeks ago in cooperation with the National Petroleum Company.

Tender issued for second wellAladwan also revealed that the ministry has issued a tender to rent a drilling rig from local companies to drill a second well in the eastern Jafr area, at a depth of 1,500m.
