Mahmoud Hayasat, spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, explained that the difference in the academic calendar between public and private schools is due to the ministry’s implementation of a national program to support student learning in its schools.

He added that the program aims to implement remedial measures to address learning loss among students and improve their academic achievement. These measures include starting the school year ten days earlier than the official date in both the first and second semesters in all public schools, providing a total of 20 additional school days, alongside preparing and teaching remedial materials in Arabic and mathematics. The program also includes specialized professional development initiatives, such as professional learning communities, which help enhance the skills of teachers, school principals, and educational supervisors, supporting the effective implementation of the remedial plan.
Regarding the distribution of textbooks, Hayasat confirmed that the books are available and have been delivered to the education directorates.
Concerning school hours during Ramadan, he noted that there will be adjustments to the school schedule in line with other ministries, but it is too early to specify the details or exact timings.
