The Director of Relations at the Syrian General Authority for Ports and Customs, Mazen Alloush, confirmed that the recent agreement between the Syrian and Jordanian sides aims to organize and facilitate the flow of goods between the two countries.اضافة اعلان

He clarified that the decision regarding direct entry is restricted exclusively to Jordanian trucks carrying goods of Jordanian origin. All other goods arriving via Jordan or other countries remain subject to the established back-to-back (transshipment) procedures at the border, with no changes to previous protocols.

New Opportunities for Syrian Logistics
In a press statement on Friday, Alloush noted that the agreement opens broader horizons for Syrian drivers and trucks for the first time. The two sides agreed to allow Syrian trucks carrying goods of Syrian origin to enter Jordanian territory directly without transshipment. This allows them to reach the Port of Aqaba for loading and unloading operations.

Alloush explained that this enables Syrian trucks to:

Enter Jordan loaded with Syrian products.

Return from Aqaba loaded with other goods.

Increase employment opportunities and operational capacity for Syrian drivers.

Advocating for Drivers' Interests
Alloush emphasized that the General Authority for Ports and Customs remains committed to defending the interests of Syrian drivers. He stated that the Authority has consistently raised their demands in bilateral meetings, viewing the Syrian driver as a primary partner in regional trade and transport.

The goal of this step is to:

Revitalize land transport and trade exchange between Syria and Jordan.

Create more jobs for drivers and transport companies.

Accelerate market access for goods while reducing costs and time.

Reciprocal Port Access
The agreement was finalized during a meeting on Thursday between the Chairman of the General Authority for Ports and Customs, Qutaiba Badawi, and the Jordanian Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply, Yarub Qudah.

The two officials agreed to:

Facilitate the passage of Syrian trucks to the Port of Aqaba for loading and unloading.

Facilitate the entry of Jordanian trucks into Syrian ports to perform the same operations.
