Qudah affirmed that the ministry has begun its customary early preparations for the holy month of Ramadan by increasing quantities of goods in markets and maintaining ongoing coordination with both the commercial and industrial private sectors to meet citizens’ needs during the holy month, when consumption rates rise by no less than 30 percent.

He noted that meetings were held with representatives of the commercial, industrial, and agricultural sectors and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the smooth functioning of supply chains and local production. The discussions confirmed the availability of food products in large quantities and the stability of prices for most goods. Some items have even recorded price decreases compared to the same periods in previous years, due to competition and peak production seasons for certain commodities.

Qudah emphasized the existence of coordinated oversight among various ministries and government institutions to guarantee the availability of goods meeting the highest standards of quality and safety. Intensive inspection campaigns are being carried out to ensure compliance with the Industry and Trade Law and other market-related regulations, alongside additional monitoring efforts by several institutions to oversee the quality and validity of products offered in the local market.

He highlighted the important role of the Civil and Military Consumer Corporations in strengthening food stocks, maintaining price stability, and fixing prices during Ramadan to ease the burden on citizens.

The minister added that the ministry’s plan includes sustained market monitoring through morning and evening inspection tours extending into the early hours of dawn after the middle of the holy month. These inspections cover various commercial outlets, essential commodities, bakeries, restaurants, sweet shops, and others.
