The company advertised the promotion in a statement on its official Facebook page: “Fill fuel for JD20 and more and get JD5 for free. On Fridays (27, 20, 13, 6) from 3:00 until 5:00pm, payment with a VISA card only at Manaseer stations.”

Long queues of cars were seen waiting outside Manseer fuel stations in locations across Jordan after the promotion was advertised. Videos of the queues, many of which consisted of over 30 cars, were circulated on Facebook and YouTube on Friday. One of the videos also captured a fight which broke out between several people in the village of Aydoun, Irbid, while they waited to fill up with fuel.

Amer Al-Shobaki, an oil and gas researcher, said in an interview with Jordan News, “This traffic was due to the big number of visitors to the country.”

Al-Shobaki stated that “citizens surrendered to the reality of rise in prices and want to get any gains possible, that’s why there was a lot of traffic surrounding the gas stations in the country.” He added, “It also shows how important this commodity is for citizens, even on Friday which is the day of holiday, people braved the traffic to save more money.”
