AMMAN — The head of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry, Fathi Jaghbir, affirmed that the Jordanian olive oil industry had witnessed important development in recent years in terms of increasing productivity and improving the quality of the oil product, and achieving an Arab and international reputation, which enabled it to enter the unconventional markets.اضافة اعلان

In a statement released on Monday, Jaghbir said that the annual income from olive products amounts to about JD100 million, while the size of investments in the sector is estimated at hundreds of millions if the value of the land used in olive cultivation and the industries based on it are calculated.

During his visit to the 21st National Olive Festival and the Rural Products Exhibition organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, he praised the efforts by the ministry and the National Center for Agricultural Research in organizing this festival, in which many farmers, associations, and several rural and provincial women participated.

He said that the industry chambers are keen to support the establishment of an olive products exhibition, which will be held annually, to help in the marketing of industrial and agricultural products and products by women working in homes.

Olive oil production companies are keen to develop their products in terms of quality, packaging, and sizes in line with the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II on the need to develop the local product to be competitive at the global level added Jaghbir.

The festival, which is supported by the Amman Chamber of Industry, constitutes a marketing window for oil, olive, and agricultural products for women who work from home and make up a large proportion of the participants, calling for the reduction of high costs of oil production.

He pointed out that the election of Jordan as the president of the International Olive Council for the year 2022 presents an opportunity to support the olive products sector, especially since Jordanian olive oil is considered one of the best in the world, as evidenced by the fact that more than one olive oil producing company has won international awards, numbering more than 40 international awards this year alone.
