AMMAN — The amount of flour allocated for bakeries cover the need for the next 12 months, said Abdul Ilah Al-Hamawi, president of the Bakery Owners Association, according to Al-Rai daily.اضافة اعلان

He said a circulated paper related to determining the amounts of flour allocated for bakeries is an organizational procedure to control the wheat market and protect the Kingdom’s total stock of wheat.

Hamawi said Tuesday that there is “no intention to raise the prices of bakery products.”

He pointed out that the price of bread is determined by the government and will not be affected, and that bakery owners agreed not to increase the prices of products, despite the high production costs represented in providing employment.

Hamawi blamed the Russian-Ukrainian crisis for raising the demand for wheat by up to three times globally. But he noted that the Jordanian government swiftly looked for alternatives, purchasing wheat from Romania and India to secure the domestic stocks for a period that exceeds 12 months.
