AMMAN — The Public Security Directorate (PSD) said that it pursued major drug dealers in the country, at a time drug infiltration across the Syrian border fell markedly. But “unofficial” reports of a sudden Syrian cooperation in this cross-border issue was actually an “information exchange”, Khaberni reported.اضافة اعلان

Jordanian security authorities formally requested the Syrian side to close at least two laboratories about which they have information on the Syrian side of the border; the Rukban Desert Camp is subject to careful security scrutiny after information about such illegal activities was received.

Jordanian security personnel said it seized 4 million Captagon pills they believe were manufactured in Syria.

“New operations” are announced in Jordan, amid leaks indicating that the Fourth Syrian Division on the border of the eastern Jordan desert has begun to show a degree of “flexibility, cooperation, and information exchange”.

In Amman, PSD officially announced Tuesday afternoon that it continues its operations targeting drug labs and prosecuting those involved in dealing and trafficking drugs in all governorates across the Kingdom.

The PSD media spokesperson said that a security force from the Narcotics Control Department, following an intelligence lead Tuesday, apprehended a drug dealer who had been sentenced to 15 years in prison in a drug trafficking case. It seized a quantity of narcotics in his possession.

Several other raids led to the arrest of suspects of drug dealing in Amman.
