Amman - The general index of industrial producer prices in Jordan decreased by 0.81 percent in the first half of 2024, reaching 107.34 points, compared to 108.21 points during the same period last year.

The Department of Statistics' monthly report, released on Wednesday, attributes this decline primarily to a 0.97 percent drop in manufacturing industry prices, which hold a relative importance of 88.74 percent, and a 3.95 percent decrease in extractive industry prices, with a relative importance of 5.36 percent. Conversely, electricity prices rose by 4.66 percent, constituting 5.91 percent of the index.
In June, the index increased by 0.4 percent, reaching 107.05 points, up from 106.62 points in June of the previous year. This rise was driven by a 0.53 percent increase in manufacturing prices and a 5.91 percent increase in electricity prices. However, prices in the extractive industries fell by 7.30 percent.
On a month-to-month basis, the index decreased by 0.80 percent in June 2024, recording 107.05 points compared to 107.92 points in May 2024. This monthly decline resulted from a 0.85 percent decrease in manufacturing industry prices, a 0.64 percent decrease in extractive industry prices, and a 0.22 percent decrease in electricity prices.
