Under the JAF, the Female Accommodations Buildings project saw IOM working closely with the government to construct two modern Female Accommodation Buildings equipped with facilities tailored to the specific requirements of women in the armed forces. These facilities include a nursery and a gym, addressing identified gaps in infrastructure and fostering a conducive environment for women serving in the JAF.
“Jordan has been a regional leader in recognizing the important role women play in support of national defense. This building is a critical part of addressing the specific needs of women in the JAF to ensure they are effective soldiers. We know the needs of women and men are different, but both women and men make unique contributions to Jordan,”
The successful completion of the project was acknowledged as a testament to the strong partnership between IOM, the Government of Canada, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The collaboration, ongoing since 2018, has yielded outstanding results in the sectors of women, peace, and security, as well as border management.

“Jordan has been a regional leader in recognizing the important role women play in support of national defense. This building is a critical part of addressing the specific needs of women in the JAF to ensure they are effective soldiers. We know the needs of women and men are different, but both women and men make unique contributions to Jordan,” said H.E. Tarik Khan, The Ambassador of Canada to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

IOM expresses its deepest gratitude to the Government of Canada for its generosity and unwavering support in addressing the critical needs faced by the JAF. IOM and its partners look forward to furthering their collaborative engagement in this vital area, building upon the achievements of the past and contributing to the continued empowerment of women in the realm of peace and security in Jordan.
