Amman – The House of Representatives, in a majority vote, referred the draft amended Civil Aviation Law for 2024 to the Legal and Transportation and Public Services Parliamentary Committees.اضافة اعلان

The decision came during a legislative session chaired by Speaker Ahmad Safadi on Wednesday, in the presence of Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan and members of the government team.

Other referred draft laws include:
Amended Labor Law for 2024, sent to the Labor Parliamentary Committee.

Amended Law on the Restructuring of Government Institutions and Departments for 2025, sent to the Administrative Parliamentary Committee.

Amended Residency and Foreigners’ Affairs Law for 2024, sent to the Legal Parliamentary Committee.

Amended Jordanian National Construction Law for 2024, referred to the Administrative Parliamentary Committee.

Draft Law of the Jordanian National Committee for Women's Affairs for 2024, sent to the Legal and Women's and Family Affairs Committees.

Key Highlights and Justifications:
Amended Civil Aviation Law
The amendments aim to:
Enhance institutional governance by defining the duties of the Civil Aviation Regulatory Authority's board and empowering its executive body.

Allow the state of registration to transfer responsibilities or obligations related to leased aircraft to the state of operation.

Establish procedures for investigating civil aviation incidents and accidents while ensuring the independence of investigations.

Amended Labor Law
The amendments align labor laws with social security, recognizing occupational diseases as workplace injuries. They also:
Harmonize procedures for medical evaluations.

Apply workplace injury schedules to workers not covered under social security.
Strengthen protections for female workers during pregnancy and maternity leave, extend maternity leave, and safeguard workers' rights to sick leave and paid bereavement leave.

Amended Government Restructuring Law
The amendments propose merging the Vocational Skills Development Authority with the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Authority under the new name "Accreditation and Quality Assurance Authority."

Amended Residency and Foreigners’ Affairs Law
The amendments introduce stricter penalties for foreigners and accommodation providers failing to report required personal information within legal deadlines.

Amended National Construction Law
The revisions aim to bolster the roles of the Jordanian National Construction Council and its Technical Codes Committee in ensuring public safety.

Draft Law of the Jordanian National Committee for Women's Affairs
This draft seeks to establish a legal framework granting the committee legal and financial independence, ensuring its sustainability, and enabling its work to enhance women's empowerment in political, economic, and social domains.
