In a televised statement on Saturday, the minister said that upcoming decisions by the council will emphasize stricter enforcement of structural compliance, including a review of how closely the Engineers Association adheres to its role in technically and structurally reviewing architectural blueprints.

Abu Al-Samen clarified that when any technical violation is detected, property owners are notified, and the local governor is contacted to initiate the necessary procedures.

He stressed that stricter measures will be implemented to monitor unauthorized additions to buildings, calling it “a very critical issue.” He explained that any building with additions must be accompanied by two certificates—one technical and one structural—to be submitted to the relevant authorities.

The minister also urged citizens to report any technical irregularities or suspected structural failures, so they can be addressed through proper engineering procedures.

His statements come following the collapse of a four-story residential building on Baghdad Street in Irbid Governorate, which was attributed to cracks caused by adjacent construction activity. Authorities also identified another nearby building showing structural damage and cracks.
