AMMAN — The Lower House Freedoms Committee Rapporteur Ahmad Qatawneh called on the House representatives to assume their responsibilities and stop the government’s dominance over Parliament saying that the government is “weak” and needs a strong parliament to hold it accountable, according to Jo24.اضافة اعلان

Qatawneh said that the government has been “running its business from a security standpoint in light of the prevailing defense orders, and has been arresting individuals who express their views on social media.”

Qatawneh expressed disbelief about security personnel raiding homes and arresting people in an unacceptable manner, “making us feel like we live in a country run by police,” cautioning against diminishing freedoms during this year.  “Freedoms are being jeopardized,” he said, adding that this would lead to a drop in Jordan’s standing on the freedom index by international organizations.
