Lower House passes state and gov’t units budgets draft laws

AMMAN — The House of Representatives approved Monday by a majority the draft laws on the general budget and the budget of government units for the 2022 fiscal year. The session was headed by House Speaker Abdel Karim Al-Doghmi, and attended by Prime Minis-ter Bisher Al-Khasawneh and Cabinet members.اضافة اعلان

Eighty-six out of 105 deputies who attended the session voted for the general budget bill, while the government unit budget bill was approved by 79 out of 101 deputies.

The deputies approved a reduction in public expenditures by JD74 mil-lion: JD15 million from the general budget, expenditure and JD59 mil-lion from the expenditures of government units.

The two budget bills will be referred to the Senate for approval and later to His Majesty the King to sign before it becomes law.

The total estimated expenditures in the general budget amount to JD10.6 billion, while expenses in the government unit budget amount to JD1.5 billion. Revenues in the general budget are estimated at JD8.9 billion (68 percent of which are taxes, 10 percent external grants, and 22 percent non-tax revenues); government unit revenues are about JD860 million, down by JD100 million from last year.
