The Jordanian Society for Respiratory Care issued a set of recommendations for individuals with respiratory diseases on how to cope with the current weather conditions.

The society emphasized the necessity of strict preventive measures to avoid serious health complications.

It stated that dust and sandstorms pose a direct risk to the respiratory system, especially for people with chronic diseases such as asthma, sinus allergies, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Inhaling large amounts of dust irritates the mucous membranes of the airways, which can cause severe relapses in their otherwise stable health condition.

The society also pointed out that even healthy individuals are not immune to these effects, as direct exposure to large amounts of dust may cause symptoms like coughing, sneezing, and eye redness.
