The media spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate announced that personnel from the Anti-Narcotics Department succeeded—after two months of surveillance, investigation, and intelligence-gathering—in thwarting an attempt to smuggle 1.2 million narcotic pills to a neighboring country. The drugs had been concealed inside a secret compartment built into the body of heavy machinery, which was prepared for shipment carrying the concealed narcotics to the intended country.

Details of the case:
The spokesperson confirmed that nearly two months ago, the Anti-Narcotics Department received information indicating that a group of individuals had conspired and were preparing to carry out a large-scale drug-smuggling operation.

He added that several teams were immediately formed to follow up on the information and verify it. These teams conducted surveillance and gathered intelligence on the suspects and on those named in the initial reports.

Through ongoing investigations and monitoring, it was revealed that the suspects had purchased heavy machinery (a road roller) and transported it to a warehouse in the Ruseifa district. They then moved quantities of narcotics into the warehouse in stages.

The spokesperson stressed that yesterday, after completing all investigations, verifying all intelligence, and confirming that the entire quantity of drugs had been moved into the warehouse, five teams simultaneously raided the warehouse and several additional locations where the suspects were present.

Inside the warehouse, officers seized the heavy machinery and apprehended several suspects, while the other teams arrested the remaining individuals at their respective locations. A total of ten people involved in the case were arrested across all raids.

The heavy machinery was transported to the Anti-Narcotics Department, where a search uncovered a secret compartment containing 1.2 million narcotic pills. Investigations are ongoing in preparation for referring the case to the State Security Court prosecutor.
