Brazilian moqueca soup, also known as Moqueca, is a flavorful seafood dish that combines tender pieces of fish and shrimp with coconut milk, peppers, tomatoes, and onions.

It is known for its vibrant color, creamy texture, and appetizing aroma. It can be prepared in one pot and served hot with white rice. Here is how to make the recipe at home.
Ingredients:
500 grams white fish fillets, cut into pieces
300 grams peeled and cleaned shrimp
400 ml coconut milk
2 tablespoons palm oil
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 red bell pepper, sliced
1 green bell pepper, sliced
2 medium tomatoes, chopped
1 tablespoon tomato paste
Juice of 1 lime
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Salt to taste
1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 cup water or fish or vegetable stock, as desired
Steps:
1. Season the fish and shrimp with lime juice, salt, and black pepper. Set aside for 15 minutes.
2. Heat the olive oil in a deep pot, then add the onion and garlic. Sauté until softened and fragrant.
3. Add the red and green peppers, tomatoes, and tomato paste. Stir for about 5 minutes, until the vegetables soften.
4. Add the cumin, paprika, and water or fish stock. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil and simmer for 5 minutes.
5. Add the coconut milk and red palm oil, then gently stir until well combined and the sauce becomes creamy.
6. Arrange the fish pieces in the sauce, cover the pot, and cook over medium heat for 8–10 minutes, until the fish is cooked through.
7. Add the shrimp and cook for only 4–5 minutes, until they are cooked through while remaining tender.
8. Add half of the chopped cilantro. Taste the soup and adjust the salt and seasonings as desired.
9. Remove the moqueca from the heat and garnish with the remaining cilantro. Serve hot with white rice.
