Jordan’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said the country has enough petroleum product stocks to cover approximately 60 days of consumption.
The ministry said the available stocks include 90- and 95-octane gasoline, diesel, kerosene and jet fuel.
It added that the available storage capacity for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is sufficient for approximately 38 days.
The ministry has previously stressed that Jordan’s energy sector operates under carefully designed plans aimed at ensuring continuity of supply.
The government has worked to provide storage capacity for strategic reserves of petroleum products in order to strengthen fuel supply security and ensure uninterrupted supplies during emergencies.
In August, Jordan began steps to reassess its storage capacity for crude oil and petroleum products through a government tender aimed at developing a new strategy to expand storage facilities and strengthen the Kingdom’s readiness to address supply challenges, while also examining regional investment and trade opportunities related to the sector.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources issued a tender for specialized technical services to improve the Kingdom’s oil and petroleum product storage capacity.
According to the tender document, the project aims to assess Jordan’s existing storage capacity, identify future requirements and explore strategic and commercial opportunities, ultimately preparing an integrated strategy for expanding oil and petroleum product storage facilities in line with international best practices.
The project is part of Jordan’s efforts to enhance the resilience of its energy system, with the Kingdom seeking not only to secure supply sources but also to develop storage capacity, improve risk management and capitalize on its geographic position as a regional logistics hub for the energy sector.
