In an interview with Sayidaty, sports nutritionist Ghida Abdulnour explained that "maintaining muscle mass is very important for women using slimming injections. A protein-rich diet helps prevent muscle loss during weight loss, which is essential for overall health and metabolism.”
She added, “Creatine’s role is to produce quick energy and increase or maintain muscle mass. Multiple studies support this. Meanwhile, slimming injections like Ozempic and Mounjaro have become very popular, especially among insulin-resistant women with increased appetite.”
When asked about the link between creatine and slimming injections, she clarified: “There is no direct relationship between the two. Creatine enhances muscle mass and supports weight loss, while slimming injections reduce weight and fat. They share a similar purpose, which is weight reduction, but through different mechanisms.”
She continued, “Women who take creatine aim to increase muscle mass, which naturally gives them more energy, strength, and activity by burning fat—thus leading to weight loss. If slimming injections are taken alongside creatine, the goal becomes appetite suppression and reducing calorie intake, which helps achieve a lean and ideal body in a shorter time. So in essence, both serve the same purpose.”
Muscle Injury Prevention
Women naturally have less muscle mass than men. According to Abdulnour, creatine helps increase it by drawing more water into muscles and raising levels of hormones linked to muscle growth and strength. She noted: “Studies show creatine may also reduce mental fatigue, which can improve mood and reduce stress-related disorders. Supplements, when combined with exercise, help rebuild lost muscle mass and benefit those with postmenopausal osteoporosis.”
She elaborated: “Taking creatine before workouts can prevent muscle injuries like cramps, and protect bones, tendons, ligaments, and nerves. This is due to its role in hydration and drawing water into the muscles. Creatine also increases muscle strength and mass, reduces body fat, and strengthens the body overall. Recent research shows that using creatine supplements for a month lowers blood triglycerides and cholesterol—especially in people with high levels due to conditions like atherosclerosis, hypertension, or diabetes.”
She added, “Creatine contributes to weight loss and slimming by lowering body fat, enhancing exercise capacity, and reducing injury risk. This leads to higher calorie and fat burning and promotes muscle growth and strength.”
Abdulnour also confirmed that “creatine may have a promising future in treating depression in women, although more studies are needed to determine the proper dosage. Research has shown it helps combat aging signs and repairs sun damage and wrinkles, making its benefits both physical and mental.”
Slimming Injections Do Not Affect Creatine Levels
All women are prone to losing muscle strength after the age of thirty. This is where creatine plays a vital role in reducing muscle loss and promoting muscle repair or growth. Abdulnour stated, “Studies have shown that creatine intake improves mood, strengthens memory, reduces fatigue, sleep disorders, stress, and exhaustion. Women on weight-loss diets should take creatine to maintain energy, which they may otherwise lose due to low-calorie intake.”
She recommends a daily dose of 3 to 5 grams of creatine, while emphasizing the importance of medical consultation. “If a woman is athletic and suffers from fatigue, it’s best to take creatine after workouts. For non-athletic women, it can be taken at any time during the day to gain its cognitive and physical benefits—especially memory enhancement and muscle preservation. It’s crucial to stay well-hydrated since creatine retains water in the body.”
Abdulnour concluded, “Slimming injections do not affect creatine levels in muscles. In fact, I advise every woman using slimming injections to take creatine. These injections reduce appetite and drastically lower calorie intake, which can lead to muscle loss—creatine helps to counteract this by supporting muscle mass.”
