According to the Pan-African News Agency, Nigerian authorities said in a statement on Monday that the truck overturned in the town of Kwanar Barde, in the Gizaawa area, due to reckless driving, resulting in a large number of casualties at the scene.
The statement described the incident as “tragic,” considering it a major loss not only for the victims’ families but for the entire state, and called for strict adherence to traffic safety regulations to prevent the recurrence of such disasters.
Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country, records high rates of road accidents, often attributed to speeding, poor road conditions, and vehicle overloading, making traffic accidents one of the leading causes of death in the country.
