As the temperatures in Amman can reach highs of 40°C in the summer months, there is no better time than now to start experimenting with your hot-weather beauty looks.

As a long-time lover of everything makeup and skincare, Amman has proved to be a haven of beauty solutions, helping me experiment with different treatments whilst streamlining my summer routine.

Just a quick browse on Instagram can throw up a dozen Amman-based salons catering to your every cosmetic need at a reasonable price; from laser treatments to facials to manicures – no treatment is out of a reach, and with a little research, you can find the salon best suited to your needs.

Having always dithered with the idea of trying out lash extensions and looking to simplify my routine, it was thanks to the Instagram influence that I finally made the leap and booked in for my first set of lashes a couple of months ago.

For those new to the idea of lash extensions, the treatment is carried out by a specialist technician who carefully glues single hair fibers to your natural lashes. The process can take anywhere between one to three hours, and refills are needed every couple of weeks to keep the look maintained.
Long-gone are the days of cakey foundation and a powdery complexion; with some good skincare, daily sun cream, and a swish of bronzer and highlighter, I have found myself summer ready without the faff of a full-face of makeup.
There are a variety of different styles of extensions available, ranging from the minimalist half-classic set to the maximalist “Russian Volume” set. If you are new to treatment, it may be best to start small and work up as desired so you can find the best fit for your eye. Your lash technician will also be able to advise as to what style may suit you best, being able to tailor the look to your face.

It is thanks to the skills of my very talented lash lady (@oryxlash on Instagram), that I now wake up ready to face the day without so much as looking at a mascara wand.

As the days warm up and the evenings get balmier, my makeup routine has dwindled down to practically nothing. Long-gone are the days of cakey foundation and a powdery complexion; with some good skincare, daily sun cream, and a swish of bronzer and highlighter, I have found myself summer ready without the faff of a full-face of makeup.

With the help of a natural looking set of lashes, my confidence levels have skyrocketed and I cannot see myself going back to mascara any time soon.

If you are planning trips to the pool to cool off from the sun, or a beach trip to top up your tan, then indulging in some extensions will undoubtedly leave you feeling fresh-faced and glam without the fear of poolside panda-eyes. As lashes provide the ultimate summertime beauty fix, the demand for appointments inevitably ramps up with the approach of summer. So, if you want to try out the easiest option for summer-glam, make sure to do your research and get booked in soon.

If you do decide to opt for lash extensions, there are a few essential rules you should follow. With a little time and care, you can keep your lashes looking their best for as long as possible.

Below I have highlighted the top tips given to me by my lash tech:

Tip number one: keep them dry for the first 24 hours. Once your lashes have been applied, it is crucial to avoid getting them wet for the first day. Contact with water can cause the glue to weaken, potentially ruining your set of lashes.

Tip number two: no mascara. Whilst it may be tempting to put on a quick coat of mascara when your lashes are beginning to thin, it is essential not to do so, as removing the mascara will inevitably cause you to weaken and pull out any remaining extensions. I found this out the hard way and much to the chagrin of my technician; it turns out you really should pay attention to their after-care advice.

Tip number three: avoid oil-based products at any cost. While wearing your extensions, it is important to avoid oil-based makeup and skincare products as oil can make the bonding glue break down, causing your new extensions to prematurely fall off.

Tip number four: brush your lashes daily. After your lash appointment, your technician should provide you with a lash spoolie. By gently brushing them out every day, you help to keep your lashes tangle-free, extending their lifespan whilst keeping them looking fluttery and lovely.
