The National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) has confirmed its full readiness to deal with the upcoming weather depression and the accompanying noticeable drop in temperatures, which is expected to lead to increased electrical loads on the national grid.

NEPCO’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Sufian Al-Battayneh, said that the company is prepared to handle the anticipated exceptional weather conditions through a comprehensive package of pre-established measures and plans designed to address various possible scenarios. These efforts aim to ensure the continuity and stability of electricity supply across the Kingdom, at the highest levels of efficiency and reliability, while minimizing the impact of the weather system on the grid.
Al-Battayneh added that the company’s teams have recently carried out a series of works, including the expansion of several substations to increase their capacity, washing insulators at substations and on transmission lines, as well as maintaining electricity transmission towers.
He also emphasized that the control and monitoring center and field teams at all work sites are on full alert to maintain the readiness of the electrical grid and to deal efficiently with the expected weather conditions. He noted that the company is prepared to manage increased loads by inspecting transmission lines and substations, and by implementing a round-the-clock shift system at main substations to ensure rapid response to any emergency that may affect the transmission system within a short time frame.
At the conclusion of his remarks, Al-Battayneh reaffirmed NEPCO’s commitment to implementing its approved plans in accordance with the highest standards, stressing the continuation of coordination and cooperation with electricity distribution companies and relevant authorities to ensure the stability of the national power system.
