The Aqaba Transport and Logistics Services Company set a new record in passenger transport services, with the number of users reaching 911,000 during the first half of this year, compared to about 634,000 passengers during the same period last year. This marks a growth rate of 43.6%, representing the highest operational performance for a first half-year period.

In a statement on Sunday, Mohammad Abu Omar, Commissioner for Investment Affairs at the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) and Chairman of the Board of the Aqaba Transport and Logistics Services Company, emphasized that this achievement reflects the success of ASEZA's vision to develop a modern public transport system capable of keeping pace with the city's urban and economic growth. He noted that the continuous increase in passenger numbers reflects the effectiveness of the authority's policies in developing service infrastructure and creating an integrated investment environment.
Abu Omar added that the Authority continues to support qualitative projects that help raise the efficiency of the public transport sector and enhance its sustainability, given its pivotal role in serving citizens, workers, and visitors, and supporting the economic, tourism, and investment sectors, in line with its vision to provide advanced services that improve the quality of life in Aqaba.
For his part, Khaled Abu Abdullah, CEO of the Aqaba Transport and Logistics Services Company, stated that reaching this record number is a direct result of ongoing operational work aimed at increasing performance efficiency, understanding passenger needs, and dealing flexibly with the rapid increase in demand for public transport services. He stressed that maintaining service quality alongside the growth in user numbers was the company's greatest challenge during the past phase.
Abu Abdullah added that the company views these results as an indicator of increased reliance on the public transport system in Aqaba and a reflection of the effectiveness of the operational plans implemented by the company. He pointed out that the next phase will focus on developing the user experience, enhancing reliability, improving operational efficiency, and utilizing modern technologies in line with best practices in public transport management.
He concluded by confirming the continuation of development programs and efforts to raise the efficiency of the public transport system to match the rapid growth taking place in Aqaba and enhance the quality of the services provided.
