Chamber President Khalil Al-Hajj Toufiq affirmed that serving the Chamber’s members has always been—and remains—a top priority for the Board of Directors. He emphasized that the Chamber continues its efforts to support the business environment in the capital, Amman, by providing services that meet the needs of the commercial, service, and agricultural sectors, in addition to safeguarding the interests of its members, protecting investors, and facilitating their operations.

Al-Hajj Toufiq noted that throughout 2024, the Board followed up on various issues related to the General Assembly’s members based on principles of transparency and responsibility, despite regional and international challenges affecting economic activity—foremost among them the repercussions of the aggression on Gaza and supply chain disruptions in Bab al-Mandab, which impacted many sectors, particularly tourism.

He added that these challenges reinforced the importance of partnership between the Chamber and representatives of commercial and service sectors—including trade unions and employers’ associations—with the aim of strengthening the Chamber’s role as an umbrella that protects traders’ interests, communicates their concerns to relevant authorities, and contributes to addressing obstacles facing the sector.

Al-Hajj Toufiq explained that the Board worked through continuous meetings with ministers and officials to follow up on several priority issues, such as postal parcel regulations, the special tax on electric vehicles, vehicle safety instructions, renewable energy systems, and the spread of street vendors in commercial markets. He also highlighted the Chamber’s engagement with matters related to the Customs Department and the Income and Sales Tax Department, especially the invoicing system, among other issues directly affecting traders.

He stated that the Chamber is implementing clear plans to enhance its services, including ongoing work to update and expand its electronic service system, which is expected to be launched soon to streamline procedures, improve service quality, and reduce time and cost.

The Chamber also organized specialized training programs in 2024 covering management, finance, logistics, and other fields that help develop the skills of employees in member companies and enhance their competitiveness locally and internationally.

Al-Hajj Toufiq reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to continuing to represent its members, defend their interests responsibly, and remain a safe home and strong advocate for traders—supporting the commercial and service sectors as key pillars of economic growth and stability in the Kingdom under the wise Hashemite leadership.

During the meeting, the 2024 administrative report was presented, outlining the Board’s work, activities, events, and services provided by various departments for the benefit of members and the national economy. The financial report and balance sheet for the year ending 31 December 2024 were also presented, showing the Chamber’s financial position, revenues, expenses, and closing account balances.

Al-Hajj Toufiq responded to attendees’ questions, while the auditor delivered a summary of the financial report, confirming that the financial statements fairly reflect the Chamber’s financial position, performance, and cash flows.

At the end of the meeting, attendees unanimously approved authorizing the Board of Directors to appoint an auditing firm for the Chamber’s 2025 accounts.
