Russian Foreign Minister: A Long Road Still Lies Ahead for Talks on Ukraine
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday that there is no reason for optimism regarding the pressure exerted by U.S. President Donald Trump on Europe and Ukraine, stressing that a long road still lies ahead before reaching peace negotiations on Ukraine.اضافة اعلان

Russia’s state media quoted Lavrov as saying that the United States has mediated talks between Russia and Ukraine to draft various proposals for ending the war, but no agreement has been reached so far, despite Trump’s repeated promises to do so.

Russian news agencies quoted Lavrov as saying, “The road is still long.”

He added that Trump has “put Ukraine and Europe in their place,” but that this step does not justify adopting an “optimistic outlook” on the situation.

The Izvestia newspaper quoted Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko as saying that no agreement would be reached before agreeing to rule out Ukraine’s accession to NATO and to prevent the deployment of foreign forces on Ukrainian territory.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022 following eight years of fighting in eastern Ukraine, leading to the largest confrontation between Moscow and the West since the height of the Cold War.
