Al-Hussein Technical University Announces Accreditation of the National Occupational Standards for the In-Company Trainer Profession

Al-Hussein Technical University (HTU), one of the Crown Prince Foundation's flagship initiatives, hosted the launch ceremony for the accreditation of the National Occupational Standards for the In-Company Trainer profession by the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission (AQAC). The event was attended by AQAC Chairman Prof. Dafer Assarairah, AQAC Assistant to the Chairman Prof. Yousef Al-Abdallat, several Sector Skills Council chairs, and representatives of partner organizations and stakeholders in technical and vocational education and training (TVET).اضافة اعلان

The accreditation is part of a project implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), in partnership with the Government of Canada, under the Supporting Jordanian Educational Providers in Offering Labor Market-Oriented Vocational Training (MOVE-HET II) project. HTU was contracted by GIZ to lead the design and institutionalization of accredited National Occupational Standards (NOS) and a national certification system for in-company training personnel in Jordan.

The National Occupational Standards (NOS) aim to enable employers to attract qualified trainees as a pipeline for future employment, and to develop the capabilities of their internal workforce, with them certified as in-company trainers by AQAC through the national certification process. The standards further support work-based learning (WBL) programs for students in vocational schools, institutes, community colleges, and universities, ensuring the quality of the training experience and its direct alignment with labor market needs.

The standards also seek to strengthen employers' capacity to integrate trainees into their projects and operations safely and productively, delivering mutual benefit for trainees and employers alike, while supporting youth transitions from education to employment through clearer, more reliable pathways and the acquisition of practical, hands-on experience.

The launch ceremony featured presentations by Prof. Hussam Khasawneh, Project Manager, and Ms. Bayan Raggad, Project Coordinator, who outlined the development process of the National Occupational Standards, their core competency domains, and their anticipated impact on Jordan's in-company training ecosystem.

HTU President Prof. Ismael Hinti affirmed that this accreditation marks a significant milestone in developing Jordan's technical and applied education ecosystem, stressing that work-based learning is a core component of the educational process and not a supplementary activity, and that a nationally accredited framework for in-company trainers is essential to raising training quality, enhancing students' labor market readiness, and deepening partnerships between universities and the productive sector.

AQAC Chairman Prof. Dafer Assarairah affirmed that the National Occupational Standards (NOS) represent an important national step towards building more professional and sustainable work environments, by qualifying in-company trainers according to clearly defined competency-based standards, and underlined that investment in internal trainer development is a strategic investment in human capital and a reinforcement of a culture of continuous learning within organizations.

The accreditation of these National Occupational Standards (NOS) extends Jordan's national efforts to strengthen technical and vocational education and training (TVET), develop school-to-work transition pathways, and build a training model that is responsive to the needs of the various economic sectors — contributing to the enhancement of Jordanian workforce readiness and competitiveness at both the national and regional levels.
