Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply Yarub Qudah affirmed Jordan’s absolute commitment to deepening its economic partnership with the United States, calling on major American companies to explore the promising opportunities offered by Jordan’s investment environment and to maximize the benefits of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) signed between the two countries.
This came during Qudah’s participation in an extensive panel discussion hosted by the American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) in Washington, D.C., to discuss ways to consolidate bilateral trade relations and attract new U.S. investments to the Kingdom.
Qudah reviewed methods to streamline procedures for the flow of Jordanian garment and textile exports to the U.S. market, ensuring their competitiveness is enhanced and resolving any obstacles facing them or their supply chains.
The session, which was convened by AAFA Senior Vice President Nate Herman, was attended by Jordan’s Ambassador to the United States Dina Kawar, and the representative of the leather and textile industries sector at the Jordan Chamber of Industry, Ehab Qadri, alongside representatives from the Jordan Garments, Accessories, and Textiles Exporters Association, as well as a number of major investors and executives from leading U.S. apparel companies.
The session featured an in-depth discussion focused on plans to strengthen the framework of sustainable compliance with international labor standards and support responsible supply chains in cooperation with international partners, aligning with modern global requirements and elevating the standing of Jordanian products in U.S. and global markets.
For his part, Qadri highlighted the strategic importance of the garments and textiles sector, noting that Jordanian apparel exports to the United States surpassed JOD 1.5 billion (approximately USD 2.1 billion) last year, with positive growth indicators continuing into the current year. He added that this reflects the high quality of Jordanian products, as well as the confidence of American partners in the local production environment and its sustainable commitment.
Representatives of the U.S. companies expressed their appreciation for the competitive advantages offered by the Jordanian economy, affirming their eagerness to expand their investment and commercial partnerships and to leverage the logistical and production facilities provided by the Kingdom as a vital regional manufacturing and export hub.
