Fayed lived a rich life, beginning his career as a street soda salesman in Alexandria, eventually building a shipping empire in the Middle East. Wanting to continue to grow in International trade Fayed moved to the UK, where he became the owner of Fulham Football club and the grandest of British department stores, Harrods, as according to the BBC.

In the sixties he became the advisor for some of the richest men in the world, including the Sultan of Brunei, and former prime minister of the UAE, Rashid bin Saeed.

Fayed’s connection in the UK grew deep, despite his never being able to attain a British passport, with no reasons made clear for his lack of citizenship, despite having moved there in 1974s, and living there till his final moments. His son was involved in a relationship with Princess Diana, and died alongside her in a car crash. This was an event that deeply perturbed Fayed’s life, as he long believed that a conspiracy led to their deaths, and they were killed by the British powers that be.

Under his leadership Fulham FC first rose to the premiere league, witnessing unprecedented growth. The club made statements as to the impact of his career on their history and their deep mourning of his passing.

Fayed passed away in his home in Surrey, England, surrounded by family.
