Al-Sudani voiced strong condemnation of continued Israeli aggression against Lebanese territory and emphasized Iraq’s commitment to fostering internal political consensus in Lebanon, stating:

“Iraq has contributed $20 million to the Arab Fund for the Reconstruction of Lebanon and will continue to provide support to help Lebanon overcome its current challenges.”

The Iraqi premier also spoke about the broader regional situation, stressing Iraq’s call for an end to the brutal aggression on Gaza and denouncing what he called a “disturbing international silence.” He highlighted Iraq’s Arab Fund initiative, which he said has gained regional backing.

Regarding Syria, Al-Sudani reiterated Iraq’s firm stance on supporting Syrian sovereignty and rejecting external interference.

For his part, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun expressed deep gratitude to Iraq for its continued humanitarian and energy support, particularly Iraqi oil shipments, which have served as a vital lifeline for Lebanon.

In his remarks, Aoun advocated for a mutual Arab interest system, calling for structured and institutionalized economic cooperation through bilateral and joint agreements that would eventually lead to a unified Arab market.

He also invoked a statement from Grand Ayatollah Ali Al-Sistani as a roadmap for Lebanon’s internal reform — focusing on competence, integrity in leadership, curbing external interference, the rule of law, state monopoly over arms, and a comprehensive anti-corruption drive.

Aoun affirmed Lebanon’s commitment to civil peace and national sovereignty, and praised Iraq for its success in hosting recent Arab summits, noting Baghdad’s “leading role in reinforcing Arab solidarity.”

He concluded his visit by emphasizing the importance of enhancing security and anti-terrorism cooperation between Iraq and Lebanon, noting that security in both countries is interconnected and requires joint efforts and intelligence exchange.
