AMMAN—Australian government's decision to revoke recognition of the western part of occupied Jerusalem as Israel's alleged capital and its announcement to stop plans to move its embassy to Jerusalem, enjoys global political value, Secretary-General of the Royal Committee for Jerusalem Affairs (RCJA), Abdullah Kanaan, said, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.اضافة اعلان

Kanaan noted any diplomatic action or activity related to Jerusalem must be linked to international legitimacy and United Nations resolutions and its affiliated organizations, adding that Jerusalem is an issue that must be resolved in accordance with international legitimacy.

In a statement to "Petra" on Thursday, he noted RCJA affirms that the Australian position constitutes an international model that is required now in the global diplomacy's policy regarding Palestinian cause and Jerusalem.

He affirmed adherence to historical facts and international legitimacy regarding the Palestinian cause, including the two-state solution and establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital on the 1967 borders.

In addition, he called on fair international diplomacy to adopt an orchestrated policy away from double standards.

The latest Australian position is a message to all countries to reconsider any diplomatic decision, which could contribute to aggravating the situation, he pointed out.
