According to a statement issued today, Tuesday, the Libyan House of Representatives addressed the government to allocate financial support for municipalities affected by recent events in western Libya. The parliament also called on the Attorney General to open an investigation into the storming of the Intelligence Agency and to submit a report on cases previously examined.

Earlier today, the Defense and National Security Committee of the Libyan Parliament confirmed that the armed group’s illegal storming of the General Intelligence Agency constitutes an attack on a sovereign information system and reflects a serious security breakdown.

During a meeting highlighted by the Libyan News Agency, the committee stated that the capital, Tripoli, is effectively “kidnapped,” with decisions not being made by official institutions.

The committee emphasized that the Intelligence Agency belongs to no one individually; it is a national institution that must remain free from manipulation and political exploitation. It called for an immediate judicial investigation into the events in Tripoli.

The committee, appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives to monitor developments in the security and humanitarian situation in Tripoli, held a meeting with the political office of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).
