The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health stated: "Al-Amiri Hospital received a case involving an 11-year-old female resident of the country, injured by falling shrapnel in a residential neighborhood in the Capital Governorate."
He added that "resuscitation (CPR) was performed in the ambulance while transporting the child to the hospital. Efforts continued for approximately half an hour upon arrival at Al-Amiri Hospital; however, she succumbed to her injuries."
The incident occurs amid a wider conflict; Israel and the United States have been launching airstrikes on Iran since Saturday, resulting in the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Since then, Tehran has retaliated by striking Israel and regional countries with missiles and drones.
Iran has also enforced a naval blockade on vessel transit through the Strait of Hormuz, targeting oil tankers attempting to pass through. Additionally, Hezbollah launched rockets from Lebanon on Sunday in response to Khamenei’s assassination, drawing Lebanon into an open war with Israel, which has carried out devastating raids on southern Lebanon and the Dahiyeh (southern suburbs) of Beirut.
