The official Oman News Agency reported on Monday that an oil tanker flying the flag of the Republic of the Marshall Islands was attacked by a suicide drone boat (Unmanned Surface Vessel - USV) 52 nautical miles off the coast of the Muscat Governorate.

The agency added that the attack caused a fire and an explosion in the main engine room of the tanker MKD VYOM, leading to the death of one crew member of Indian nationality. The tanker's cargo is estimated at 59,463 metric tons.
In coordination with the Maritime Security Center, the tanker's 21-member crew was evacuated, including 12 Indians, 4 Bangladeshis, and one Ukrainian national.
A vessel from the Royal Navy of Oman is currently monitoring the damaged tanker's condition and issuing necessary warnings to other ships transiting the same maritime area, according to the official agency.
