AMMAN — Four Syrian soldiers were killed and four others
injured in an Israeli missile attack near Damascus on Monday, according to
reports from official media, citing a military source. Reuters also reported
that the attack caused some material losses.
The military source revealed that the Israeli enemy
conducted the aerial aggression at approximately 2:20 am from the direction of
the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting specific points in the vicinity of
Damascus. Syrian air defenses managed to intercept and bring down some of the
Israeli missiles.
Israel has been carrying out such attacks for several years,
targeting what it claims are Iranian-linked sites in Syria. This is due to
Iran's increasing influence in the country, which began when Tehran started
supporting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad during the civil war that erupted
in 2011.
