On Sunday, the committee discussed the bill, known as the “Death Penalty for Terrorists Law,” which would allow the execution of Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails.
According to Israeli media, deliberations will resume after being postponed for two weeks at the request of the Coordinator for Prisoner and Missing Persons Affairs, Gal Hirsch, due to concerns over the safety of hostages in the Gaza Strip and the launch of military operations in Gaza City.
The law, previously proposed by Knesset member Limor Son Har-Melech of the Otzma Yehudit party, had been rejected in the past for similar reasons.
