On Wednesday morning, two Israeli air strikes targeted two vehicles on the busy highway connecting Beirut to southern Lebanon, according to the official National News Agency (NNA), despite a ceasefire being in effect since April 17.

The agency reported the "targeting of a car on the Jiyeh highway," a town located approximately 20 kilometers south of the capital. Shortly thereafter, another Israeli strike targeted a second vehicle on the same highway.

Authorities have not yet announced the death toll, but images showed the first car charred in the middle of the international road, while rescuers worked to transport a body placed in a bag.

The Israeli occupation army also renewed its warning on Wednesday to residents of six towns in the Tyre region of southern Lebanon to evacuate, accusing Hezbollah of violating the ceasefire agreement. — AFP
