In a statement, the army alleged that it had “identified a failed launch attempt carried out from an area in Gaza City toward Israel,” adding that the projectile “fell within the territory of the Gaza Strip.”
It added: “In a rapid closure of the loop, we precisely struck the launch point.”
No Palestinian faction claimed responsibility for the attempted rocket launch, and no injuries were reported as a result of the strike, according to available information.
An Anadolu Agency correspondent in Gaza reported hearing an explosion, which was later confirmed to have resulted from the airstrike.
In the same context, the Israeli army has continued since the early morning hours to open fire toward tents sheltering civilians who lack alternative housing after Israel destroyed their homes during the two-year-long war.
As part of these attacks, a child was killed and a Palestinian was injured by Israeli army fire in Jabalia refugee camp and the Zeitoun neighborhood in northeastern Gaza City.
The Anadolu correspondent noted that the two incidents occurred in areas from which Israeli forces had withdrawn and which are supposed to be safe under the ceasefire agreement.
These developments come amid continued Israeli violations of the ceasefire since October 10, 2025, which have resulted in the killing of 424 Palestinians and the injury of 1,199 others.
