On Thursday, Israel announced its intention to deport civilian activists arrested from several flotilla ships to Europe. According to the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs via X (formerly Twitter), the activists, currently on the ships seized by Israel, are being transferred to Israel where deportation procedures to Europe will begin.

The exact number of detained activists is not fully confirmed. Turkey reported 24 of its citizens were detained, Colombia confirmed two of its nationals, and Kuwait reported arrests of several of its citizens.

On the same day, the Freedom Flotilla stated via X that the Israeli military attacked 21 out of 44 ships in international waters heading toward Gaza. The International Committee for Breaking the Gaza Siege released videos on Facebook showing armed Israeli forces boarding the ships and abducting activists.

Despite these attacks, some ships managed to enter Gaza’s territorial waters and continue toward the coast, hoping to deliver humanitarian aid.

International governments and human rights organizations condemned Israel’s detention of peaceful civilians, labeling it a serious breach of international law and calling for the immediate release of activists and an end to the flotilla interceptions.

This incident marks the first time around 50 ships, carrying 532 civilian activists from over 45 countries along with humanitarian supplies, including medical aid, have sailed together toward Gaza in a collective attempt to break the Israeli blockade.
