The Anadolu Agency reported that the IOF and its military vehicles completely withdrew for the first time since October 27 from the neighborhoods of Al-Tawam, Al-Karama, and Al-Rashid Street. The IOF also withdrew from residential neighborhoods located in the northwest of Gaza Governorate, including the General Security HQ, the Intelligence Towers area, and Al-Rashid Street.

Hours after the withdrawal, residents of those areas headed to check their homes and properties from which they had been displaced since the start of the war.

On October 27, 2023, the IOF began a ground operation that included penetration into several areas and neighborhoods in Gaza and the north. The IOF started a gradual withdrawal from areas in the North Governorate around mid-December of last year, and at the start of January, it started a partial withdrawal from neighborhoods and areas in the Gaza Governorate. It also re-penetrated some areas in Gaza and the north of the Strip in mid-January last year to carry out rapid operations, changing the locations of penetration from time to time while retreating after its operations to locations near the eastern and northern edges of the North Governorate and the eastern and southwestern parts of Gaza.
