ICJ states that South Africa’s lawsuit demands protection of Gaza civilians

THE HAGUE —  Thursday marked the commencement of the first session of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to consider South Africa’s lawsuit against the Israeli occupation for committing genocide crimes against the Palestinians. The court is currently hearing South Africa and its legal defense regarding a lawsuit accusing the Israeli occupation of committing crimes against the Palestinians in Gaza.اضافة اعلان


The ICJ stated that South Africa's lawsuit demands protection for civilians in the Gaza Strip.

The ICJ explained that the Genocide Convention obligates Israel to cease any acts of genocide against the Palestinians and prevent their physical destruction.


It reported that South Africa claims that what Israel did in Gaza constitutes genocide against the Palestinians. The ICJ further stated that South Africa is asking the court to take immediate measures to protect the rights of Palestinians under the Genocide Convention.
