The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that the strike resulted in the deaths of five people and the injury of 28 others. The attack struck several floors of a building, causing extensive damage both to the structure and to surrounding areas.

In a statement, the Israeli army said the strike was carried out under the direction of Military Intelligence and targeted Hezbollah’s Chief of Staff, Haitham Ali Al-Tabtabaei.

Hezbollah described the attack as a “crossing of a red line,” while Lebanese President Joseph Aoun called on the international community to intervene to halt the Israeli assaults.

Prime Minister Nawaf Salam stressed the importance of protecting civilians and preventing the country from sliding into open escalation, confirming that political and diplomatic efforts were continuing with friendly and allied nations to ensure the withdrawal of Israeli forces.

The strike comes amid an intensification of Israeli operations in Lebanon since the November 27, 2024 ceasefire, with senior Hezbollah figures and facilities in Beirut’s southern suburbs among the primary targets.

According to the Ministry of Health, Israeli strikes since the ceasefire have killed over 331 people and injured 945 others in separate incidents.
