Meteorological Dept: April 2024 Defies Expectations with Higher Rainfall and Relative Coolness
The Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) announced that April 2026 deviated from the usual climatic patterns, characterized by mild to relatively cool spring weather. This was due to the Kingdom being affected by an extension of a high-pressure system interspersed with relatively cold and moist air masses, along with periods of atmospheric instability.اضافة اعلان

Temperature Trends
Data showed that temperatures dropped below general averages across most regions of the Kingdom:

Amman Civil Airport: The monthly average was 16.5°C, approximately 0.8°C below the general average.

Amman Peaks: The highest maximum temperature recorded was 32.0°C (April 17), while the lowest minimum was 6.8°C (April 7).

National Extremes: Deir Alla station recorded the highest temperature in the Kingdom at 39.0°C, while Shobak station recorded the lowest at -2.0°C (April 22).

Rainfall Performance
April recorded remarkable precipitation levels that exceeded expected averages:

Amman Civil Airport: Total rainfall reached 17.7 mm, accounting for 7% of the general seasonal average (surpassing the typical 3% expected for April).

Al-Rabba Station (Karak): Recorded the highest total rainfall in the Kingdom at 38.5 mm (~12% of its seasonal average).

Regional Gains: A noticeable increase in rainfall was observed particularly in the southern and eastern regions, with the exception of Aqaba, which recorded no rainfall this month.

Climate Analysis
Monthly averages across most of the Kingdom decreased by 0.2°C to 1.3°C compared to general averages, except for the Central Jordan Valley and Aqaba, which saw a slight increase of about 0.3°C.

The JMD emphasized that these indicators reflect a unique spring month that combined moderate weather with improved precipitation—a period where rainfall is typically limited—thereby benefiting the Kingdom’s water and agricultural sectors.
