AMMAN — HRH Prince Faisal, who is a member of the executive office of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and president of Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC), attended the opening ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games on Friday.
The
Olympics, which will run to August 8, will see the participation of about
11,000 athletes representing 205 countries, in addition to the refugee Olympic
team, according to the Olympic website.
The ceremony’s theme was "United by
Emotion," as officials are aspiring to reaffirm the role of sport and the
value of the Olympic Games, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
