The national team is looking for a strong start and a first win at the Games, boosting its chances of reaching the quarterfinals and continuing its run toward the later stages, as it aims to build on the historic achievement it secured at the previous edition.
The national team arrived in Nagoya last Sunday evening, coming from the Philippine capital, Manila, and has spent the past three days training under head coach Luis Guil Torres, with the technical staff focusing on technical and tactical aspects and boosting the players' readiness for the Games.
Jordan's roster for the Nagoya Asian Games includes: Fadi Ibrahim, Ahmad Al-Dwairi, Mohammad Shaher, Ahmad Al-Hamarsheh, Rohi Al-Kilani, Amin Abu Hawwas, Dar Tucker, Peyton Buford, Yousef Abu Wazneh, Malek Kanaan, Yazan Al-Taweel, and Abdullah Olajuwon.
The basketball draw placed the national team in Group B alongside Iran, Chinese Taipei, and Qatar. Jordan will face Qatar next Saturday at 7:00 AM Jordan time, before wrapping up its group-stage campaign against Iran on Sunday at 4:00 AM Amman time.
The men's basketball competition features 12 national teams divided into three groups: Group A includes Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia, while Group C includes China, the Philippines, Bahrain, and Kazakhstan.
It's worth noting that the national team won silver at the previous edition of the Asian Games, held in Hangzhou, China, becoming the first Jordanian team in a team sport to reach the podium in the country's history of participation at the Games, an achievement it hopes to draw on in its current campaign as it competes once again for a medal.
