Jordan's national basketball team began training yesterday in the Japanese city of Nagoya, preparing to compete in the 20th Asian Games, hosted by Japan.

The national team delegation arrived in Nagoya the day before yesterday, coming from the Philippine capital, Manila, where the team held its first training session at Aichi Arena, the venue hosting the basketball competition at the Games. The session was led by Spanish head coach Luis Guil Torres, amid hopes of achieving positive results and competing for one of the tournament's medals.
The national team's roster for the Games includes 12 players: Fadi Ibrahim, Ahmad Al-Dwairi, Mohammad Shaher, Ahmad Al-Hamarsheh, Rohi Al-Kilani, Amin Abu Hawwas, Dar Tucker, Peyton Buford, Yousef Abu Wazneh, Malek Kanaan, Yazan Al-Taweel, and Abdullah Olajuwon.
The draw placed the national team in Group B, alongside Iran, Chinese Taipei, and Qatar. "Jordan's Falcons" will begin their campaign the day after tomorrow, facing Chinese Taipei at 7:00 a.m. Amman time.
The national team will then meet Qatar on September 12, at 7:00 a.m. Amman time, before wrapping up their group-stage campaign against Iran on September 13, at 4:00 a.m. Amman time.
The national team is hoping to repeat its strong showing at the Asian Games, having won silver at the previous edition held in Hangzhou, China, in 2023. This time, the team aims to compete strongly and return to Jordan with one of the tournament's medals.
