A comparison with the World Cup roster reveals the scale of the overhaul Ancelotti has begun, with just 9 players from the World Cup squad retained, while 17 players who took part in the tournament have been left out.
Those retained are Douglas Santos, Gabriel Magalhães, Marquinhos, Bruno Guimarães, Danilo, Endrick, Raphinha, Rayan, and Vinícius Júnior.

Ancelotti explained that the current phase would prioritize young players capable of competing in upcoming tournaments, chief among them the 2028 Copa América and the 2030 World Cup, but stressed that the door remains open to everyone, and that these tests would help him form a clearer picture before selecting his squads for major tournaments.
8 New Faces and the Return of a Chelsea Duo
The squad includes 8 players called up to the senior national team for the first time: goalkeepers Pedro Moriseco and Otávio; defenders Arthur Dias, Jair Cunha, Matheuzinho, and Mauro Jr.; and midfielders Breno Bidon and Gabriel Bontempo.
Ancelotti also brought back Chelsea duo João Pedro and Estêvão to the national team, after both missed the World Cup, João Pedro wasn't included in the tournament's final squad, while injury ruled Estêvão out of participating.
The new squad includes 10 players currently playing in the Brazilian league, another sign of the broadening pool of options during this rebuilding phase.
By contrast, a number of experienced players are absent, most notably goalkeeper Alisson Becker and midfielder Casemiro, while Neymar had already announced his retirement from international football following the World Cup.
