Lens owed the victory to their new captain, Florian Thauvin, who scored in the 32nd minute. However, the team was forced to withstand nearly an hour of play with a numerical disadvantage after 18-year-old defender Kylian Antonio was sent off in the 39th minute.
Paris Saint-Germain, who won the UEFA Super Cup against English side Aston Villa on Wednesday and have won the French Super Cup in 12 of the last 13 editions, also finished the match with 10 players after Portuguese defender Nuno Mendes was sent off in the 87th minute.
Under new German coach Dino Toppmöller, Lens added the title to the French Cup they won last May after defeating Nice 3-1 under their former coach Pierre Sage.
PSG will begin their title defense in Ligue 1 against visiting Rennes on August 23, while Lens, last season's Ligue 1 runners-up, will host Auxerre a day earlier.
Spanish coach Luis Enrique, who has led the European champions for the past two seasons, started the match without Ballon d'Or winner Ousmane Dembélé, Brazilian captain Marquinhos, and Spanish midfielder Fabián Ruiz.
However, the lineup featured new signings Maghnes Akliouche and Lucas Digne.
PSG dominated from the opening minutes and created the first threat when Georgian star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia fired a right-footed shot from outside the penalty area, which goalkeeper Robin Risser saved in the eighth minute.
The former Napoli player tried again with another right-footed effort from outside the box in the 25th minute, but Risser once again denied him.
Against the run of play, veteran Thauvin opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, calmly converting a cross from the left by midfielder M. Odoul inside the six-yard box.
Lens defender Antonio was shown a straight red card by referee Jérémy Pignard in the 39th minute following a heavy challenge on Akliouche.
The crossbar denied Désiré Doué in stoppage time at the end of the first half, as his right-footed effort from a tight angle on the right side of the six-yard box struck the woodwork.
Risser produced an excellent save in the 62nd minute to deny Mendes, who fired left-footed from the left side of the six-yard box after receiving a backheel pass from Doué following a slick sequence of PSG passes.
Pignard disallowed a goal by substitute Ruiz in the 75th minute for offside against Doué, who had provided the assist.
After an impressive individual run by Doué, the ball fell to the unmarked substitute Dembélé, but he sent his first-time effort over the crossbar from close range in the 81st minute.
The numerical balance was restored in the 87th minute when Mendes was shown a straight red card for striking Lens substitute Michał Skóraś with his elbow off the ball.
