Ahmad Abu Al-Saud finishes fifth in clutch competition of FIG World Challenge Cup

AMMAN — National gymnastics player Ahmad Abu Al-Saud finished fifth in the clutch competition at the FIG World Challenge Cup, which recently concluded in the Slovenian city of Koper.اضافة اعلان

Saleh Al-Ghwairi, Vice President of the Gymnastics Federation and media spokesman for the federation, told Jordan News: "We achieved fifth place in one of the rounds of the Challenge Cup Series, and Ahmed Abu Al-Saud could have won the gold medal if not for the mistake he made while landing.”

Asked about their aspirations for Saleem Nagouj, he said: "Nagouj needs to take part in more tournaments to raise his skill level, which is not far from the leading competitors.  We expect him to be on the podium in the near future."

The head of the gymnastics federation, HRH Princess Rahma Bint Al Hassan, telephoned the head of the delegation, Saleh Al-Ghwairi, while they were in Slovenia, to check on the health of the Jordanian mission.  Al-Ghwairi said: "HRH The Princess sent words of encouragement to the players in order to urge them to give more and achieve the goals of this nation.”

The national gymnastics team is also participating in the Mersin tournament in Turkey, which started on Tuesday. 

Mersin is one of the rounds of the challenge World Cup Series.

The Jordanian delegation is led by international referee Munir Saqr, Armenian coach Jurgen Sirikanyan, and physical therapist Hala Maharmeh, along with players Ahmad Abu Al-Saud and Saleem Nagouj.
