Scientist Abbas Haddadin discovered ten species of wasps in Jordanian amber, dating back 140 million years.
These wasps are hymenopteran wasps, belonging to the hymenopteran family. They are parasitic insects that lay their eggs in the bodies of insects, which then drag them to their nests for their young to feed upon hatching. These wasps existed between 150 and 200 million years ago in the Jurassic Period, the second geological period. Ants, bees, and wasps evolved from each other. Some live in communities, while others live solitary lives.

Scientists found a species of wasp in 99-million-year-old Myanmar amber. They found moving hairs on the abdomens of female wasps, which they use to catch insects, similar to the traps found on the flower of the venus plant. I believe these hairs also transport pollen from flowers to their nests for their young to feed. Some of the wasps in Jordanian amber resemble some modern-day wasps.
