The event kicked off on October 9, under the patronage of the Italian Ambassador to Amman Fabio Casses and is being managed by the Dar Art Agency. It aims to open the door to Italian brands in Jordan.

“We also organized a delegation of Jordanian Company to visit our exhibition in Italy” in order to boost economic cooperation, said Filippo Covino, who helped launch the event, in a collaboration with Rania Omesh from Dar Art Agency.

He explained another objective is to eventually bring in designers and businesses from other regional countries to participate.

The Italian exhibition included showrooms filled with art, electronics, and furniture, as well as a food section. The exhibition is showing off some of the fastest electric motorbikes in the world, Italian furniture, and contains an art gallery.

Covino said that it was a priority to put a spotlight on Italian food because there are only a few Italian restaurants with Italian chefs in Jordan. Additionally, his next event will be an Italian food festival expected to launch in November.

For the furniture section, well-known designers and companies joined the event like, such as Andrea’s design N art, Maraqa Interiors, Majestic Home, and elite.

Covino characterized Italian Design Day as a good mix between an artistic, commercial, and promotional event. “I see that art in itself is not enough, because it wouldn’t reach a large number of interests and visits, so it is better for me to mix between more than one aspect,” he said.

“This event is so important because this is the first time for us in Jordan to have this kind of exhibition, it is so unique. Also, we want to inspire architects and interior designers,” said Omesh from Dar Art Agency.

The furniture section came at a good time, Omesh added, referring to the COVID-19 pandemic and the amount of time people spent in their homes.
